Mihlali Ndamase has finally broken her silence to respond to allegations that she is in an abusive relationship with businessman Leeroy Sidambe, who has denied abusing the YouTuber.
Earlier this month, Mihlali hit the trending charts after sharing images of bruises on her forehead, lips and under her eyes on her Instagram Story, writing “Thank you my angel Leeroy ” before deleting posts.
Leeroy later released a statement denying allegations of abuse against Mihlali, saying he suffered bruises when he pushed him away after trying to stab him.
On Monday, Mihlali shared an open letter saying the affair that became public had “profoundly” affected her and her business.
It is with great vulnerability I admit I was involved in a toxic relationship. This relationship started off verbally and emotionally harmful and matters quickly escalated to it being physically harmful.
I, unlike others, take full accountability for my involvement in the toxic dynamic. One can only be quiet for so long after tolerating gaslighting, aggression, emotional abuse, manipulation, obsessive behaviour and control tactics employed by an individual. Tactics used to distort my perception of love which led me down a path of pain and torment. The scars of this experience run deep and the trauma continues to echo in my personal life and in my business.
Such cases can be complex, escalate gradually over time, and are difficult for some to understand, specially if they have no personal experience. However, that does not discredit or invalidate my story as I have lived it.
It is imperative for us to educate ourselves on the nature of emotional abuse, and gender-based violence and the devastating impact it has on families, individuals and communities. Despite the darkness that has clouded my past I am filled with hope and determination to embark on a journey of healing.
I’m committed to seeking the support and resources necessary to get the help I need to reclaim my sense of dignity and self-worth through my healing journey, I hope to inspire others to speak out, seek help and break free from any toxic environment.

Award-winning content creator, Mihlali Ndamase and her married man boyfriend Leeroy Sidambe have been at the center of a social media storm since Sunday afternoon after Ndamase posted cryptic photos showing bruises on her upper lip, below her eyes and in the forehead.
The images, which allude to the allegations of abuse suffered by Ndamase at the hands of Sidambe, and one of which was titled: “Thank you my angel”, and tagged the man’s Instagram account. The affair before the stories were deleted caused an uproar, with some social media users sympathizing with Ndamase, while others said he deserved it.
In response to the controversy, on Monday, Sidambe later released a statement denying any assault on Ndamase, 27, while claiming he had a history of assault.
However, Ndamase denied Sidambe’s allegations to City Press, adding that she was the victim in their relationship.
She said:

When asked if he had attacked Sidambe on Sunday, Ndamase said he had not.
In his statement, Sidambe said Ndamase left 78 missed calls on his phone before he arrived at his home, accusing him of infidelity and trying to stab him – a claim he said was verified by his son, who saved him after listening to his father. pray with Ndamase.
“When she arrived, as my son remembers, she went to the kitchen to get a knife to stab herself because she was allegedly shown evidence of my infidelity.
“Mihlali Ndamase then came to my room while I was sleeping to confront me about my infidelity and tried to stab me, which I defended by pushing him away from me, which caused him injuries when he fell in contact with the wall.”, said the statement on Instagram.
The two started dating in 2022, and it seems that Sidambe is still married to his ex-wife Mary Jane Sidambe.
Since then, they have been in an off-again relationship with Ndamase, announcing in December last year that she had separated from the business in October. At that time, Sidambe was seen on social media having fun with his friends and other women.
